We gain cultural perspective in studying the textile arts of Afghanistan. Through understanding the material object,
we learn to understand the social and economic forces at work in its creation. The richness that once was survives today
in Afghan rugs; the turbulence of past times is reflect in their artistic achievement. They perserve a portion of the
march of history.
